Indigenous-led challenge hopes to foster schooling and reconciliation in Wellington County

What began out as a request for a small plot of land to develop a drugs backyard has now grown to a challenge that goals to foster schooling and reconciliation with the neighborhood on Wellington County.

The county has devoted two acres of land fpr the Indigenous Gathering Circle Mission, a culturally protected area for the county’s Indigenous neighborhood and allies.

The land is a part of Wellington Place, an space made up of 77 hectares in Aboyne, between Fergus and Elora, that hosts a number of county companies like Wellington Dufferin Guelph Public Well being, New Groves Memorial Neighborhood Hospital and the Wellington County Museum and Archives.

Jana Burns, administrator for Wellington Place, mentioned they’re working with the committee to know “what’s necessary from their perspective.”
